Let Sleeping Dogs Lie

Dearest Blog,

I have indeed been neglectful of you. But not without good cause you see. I have been revisiting my roots, and reconfirming my convictions. I promise, I will be good to you from now on. Please let me explain why I have been absent from your life.

I took some time out to revisit what it is that I want. Seeing as how that is how ones life is defined… It did take me some time. Like all ambitious people, I wanted to improve. But improvement comes in a variety of ways, in my case it was patience and being open to different opportunities.

If you don’t know me, I am an information seeker, always, always seeing knowledge. It was through this conviction that I absorbed and adopted new techniques to incorporate in my work.

It was my opportunity to assist with one of my greatest role models, Gabor Jurina, that my eyes were opened, and was re-inspired. Thank-you. I also read some materials that proved to be thought-provoking and challenged the way I approached my work.

I also managed to go to the cabin in WestPort (North of Ottawa) a lot this Summer. I was windsurfing on the lake when I was awakened again, the bigger picture. There is so much more to life than work. I was alone, against the wind, on a beautiful lake, with loved ones… how great is that.

Apart from work, I also got in touch with my roots with a short visit home. Calgary harbors many great memories for me; good friends, and family. Instead of focusing on my only negative experience, may it rest in peace, I will share only the good. Seeing old friends for the first time caused me to become nervous and shaken before arrival. It wasn’t long before that faded and was comfortable again. I had such a wonderful time catching up.

While at home I went to my first wedding, may I wish Bob and Jessica a happy marriage. It was so wonderful to be a witness to one of my best friends growing up at the peak of his happiness.

It was detrimental to re-visit my roots, because it allowed me to share my experiences and on the other hand, listen to my friends’. How important it was to know where my friends were, because coincidentally, it proved to me how my life was parallel with my friends’. It was important because it confirmed that what I was doing in my life, was right; that I was following the right path. What a greater realization than that. It taught me that no matter what path you’re taking in life, there will always be a need, at least initially, to find a good balance with everything. But as long as my choices are made for the right reasons, and to stick with those choices, everything will balance out… eventually.

It was time to put this into practice… results above.
